Rip-roaring, modern woman of the 50's. Writer, mother, and official member of The Internet.
Mary Chastain Flournoy (Chastain, simply) has been writing since she was a little girl. She’s written fiction, nonfiction, short stories, and essays… but poetry has always been the best indicator of what’s going on in her head and her world at any given moment. She writes feelings and words that sound good next to one another. Her unique voice is poignant, but she never takes herself too seriously.
Chastain lives outside of Richmond, Virginia with her husband, Captain David Maxwell Flournoy (Max), and her son, Kent. They live in a 50’s era cookie-cutter home with their dog, a life-sized bust of George Washington, and two canoes.
You can read/review a variety of pieces on URBIS – Niansahc and WritersCafe.org. Her more adult work can be found in the digital pages of Black Heart Magazine.
Chastain began writing a series of Science Fiction novels in 2009, has recently written a children’s book, and continues to hassle publishers with her poetry.
